The majority of Wexford County Council on Aging funding is provided by the Wexford county senior millage approved by the voters. Our clients receive many free services paid for by the millage. Clients also receive a suggested donation letter each month for those same services generating voluntary client donations. Wexford County Council on Aging receives private donations and grants are applied for when available.

Other sources of funding include:

  • Area Agency on Aging of Northwest Michigan
  • Northern Lakes Community Mental Health
  • Department of Human Services
  • United Way of Wexford County

Wexford County Council on Aging also has a Silver Care program which allows for a variety of additional hours and services to be purchased by privately paying. All private pay arrangements require the client or responsible party to sign a contractual agreement.

Revenues from the Silver Care program are used by COA to expand millage funded services and to provide increased funding for programs like senior centers. By purchasing additional services through Silver Care, you are helping to support an expansion of millage programs.
