Volunteer Driver

Becoming a Volunteer Driver is rewarding. You meet friendly people, experience the gratification of assisting someone in need and are reimbursed for miles driven. As a Volunteer Driver, you use your own vehicle, you set your own schedule, and have the flexibility of donating as much time as you are able. You will be helping others maintain their independence and connections to the community.

All they need is a ride.

  • Who can qualify as a driver?

Any adult, 21 years or older, with a good driving record, a safe and insured vehicle, and a standard Michigan driver’s license may volunteer.

  • How long of a time commitment is required?

You can volunteer when and as much as you want to drive.

  • Is there Training involved?

Yes, all volunteers will have access to training opportunities.

  • What will I receive as a volunteer?

Mileage reimbursement, complimentary shirts/hats, and other items that will help you serve as a volunteer.

  • What about insurance?

Each volunteer maintains their own insurance policy, but a supplemental policy will be available.

  • What kind of skills do I need?

We all want to help others in a prompt, courteous and reliable manner. Safe driving and customer service skills are important to making each trip a success.
