WELCOME!

Since 1974, Wexford County Council on Aging (WCCOA) has been providing a wide array of services and programs to meet the needs in our community. Even though our name implies services for the elderly, our scope of services extend to families as well, helping during crisis to enable generations of residents to cope with challenges. The WCCOA works to enhance the wellness and empowers our seniors to be a vital part of the community.

Wexford County Council on Aging (COA) is a local nonprofit 501©3 agency, serving seniors age 60 and older and disabled adults throughout Wexford County, Michigan. The agency is governed by a 15 member Board.

Many of our services are subsidized (cost share) through the Wexford County Senior Millage to help lower the actual cost of our homemaking, personal care, in-home respite, DayBreak Adult Day Services and snow removal (pre-paid vouchers for snow removal) for those that are 60 years old and older.

Other sources of funding come from Area Agency on Aging of Northwest Michigan, Northern Health Care Management, United Way of Wexford County, Office of Services to the Aging (OSA), Department of Human Services, donations and private contributions.

"Our mission is to collaboratively provide, manage, and source an integrated system of health and human services for Wexford County seniors and disabled adults with chronic illness or disability."

Our Vision: Wexford County Council on Aging strives to enhance the quality of life for senior citizens and disabled adults by providing assistance that offers them the ability and choice to remain safely in their homes.

Our Values:

  • To treat all people with compassion, dignity and respect.
  • To encourage and welcome diversity and individuality.
  • To assist seniors in making and implementing choices that maximize their independence and quality of life.
  • To preserve seniors' lives, health, and properties while promoting self determination.
  • To encourage intergenerational understanding and promotion of shared activities.
